The Zero/Sports Cool Racing Thermostat WRX/STI 2002+ has a valve opening setting of 71C which is 7C lower than the stock thermostat. This allows the cooled water to circulate back from the radiator faster and hence the water temperature is maintained within the limit of the EJ engine. This helps prevent loss of power from the engine and thermal breakdown of the engine.
