Zero/Sports Rear Bumper Install Guide for 2006 Subaru STI

**Disclaimer:

By choosing to use this install guide, you have agreed to not hold EDO Performance responsible for any mishaps that occur due to the misinterpretation of instructions or errors that result in damage to product. This write-up is STRICTLY for the purpose of test fitment and has NOT been tested for anything other than to address fitment concerns.

-------------------------------------------------------

Tools Needed:

  1. 1 x Flathead Screw Driver
  2. 1 x Philips Screw Driver
  3. 1 x 3/8 Small Ratchet
  4. 1 x 1/2 Large Ratchet
  5. 1 x 12mm Socket
  6. 1 x 14mm Socket
  7. Masking Tape (Optional)

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 1

Open the trunk; remove the carpet and spare tire cover. Once these are out, proceed to remove the plastic piece that covers the lock that the trunk latches down to. The plastic piece is held in place by a couple of tabs. Once tabs are removed, pull the plastic piece up and out.

**A little bit of force may be required to pull the cover off. **

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 2

Once the plastic piece is removed, there will be four (4) visible tabs on the inside of the trunk. Pop the tabs out with a flat head screw driver. Once the tabs are popped out, pull the trunk lining back to reveal the nuts that hold the tail lights. Before loosening these nuts, first disconnect the harness from the light, and then remove the four (4) nuts on each light assembly then proceed to push the light out and remove it. Once the lights are removed, use a flathead to pop out the two tabs that were hidden by the lights (pictured below).

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 3

Next, remove the three (3) tabs under the car that hold the rear bumper to the body then remove the bolt from the rear wheel wells and pull the bumper off the clip.

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 4

After the two bolts and the tabs that hold the bumper to the body are removed, remove the four (4) nuts that hold the rear license plate light assembly from the body.

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 5

Pull the bumper cover up and off the car towards you and pop out the five (5) tabs that hold the cover to the reinforcement bar. Be careful not to completely pull the assembly off. Unplug all the harness then carefully remove the cover from the body of the car. This should expose two (2) black support brackets and the foam. The foam and the two (2) black support brackets will also need to be removed. Two (2) bolts hold the support brackets to the body of the car. The foam should also come right off.

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 6

Now to fit the Zero/Sports rear bumper on! This step REQUIRES two (2) people. DO NOT try to fit this on by yourself, you WILL crack the bumper. Each person needs to take opposite ends of the bumper and fit the bumper onto the body. I recommend using masking tape to cover the corners of the bumper if you are worried about scratching the paint. When fitting the bumper, press the bumper against the car and slide the bumper from underneath the car slowly upward into place. Use care in handling the bumper because the fitment is very snug.

--------------------------------------------------------

Step 7

To securely attach the Zero/Sports rear bumper to the car follow the steps in reverse.
